The Impact

Children are constantly learning from the actions and words of the people around them. One of the most important things to model for a child is gratitude. When they learn this skill, it helps them build relationships with others but also with themselves. This Gratitude Box activity set will teach them what gratitude is, why it’s important to feel it and how they can express it through a variety of activities.

For each kit purchased, Open the Joy donates a toy to a hospitalized child in America

  • 100% screen free activities

  • Teaches the child life long skills

About

Not all stories have fairytale beginnings, in fact, our journey started in a hospital room. My daughter was diagnosed with an incredibly rare childhood disease requiring frequent hospitalizations, and as her mom, I was determined to make sure she was emotionally equipped for journey ahead. I wanted to teach her important life skills such as patience, forgiveness, resilience and self-confidence. I realized that the school curriculum didn't teach this, neither did the toy industry. Nobody was focusing on the emotional intelligence of kids- so I did.

Important Life Lesson We had a bit of an "uh-oh" moment when our son replied with a "That's it?" rather than a thank you when opening his Christmas presents. Obviously we had some gratitude issues and when telling the story to a friend she suggested this box. It has completely turned everything around! It was a great life lesson to learn and we are continuing to re-enforce the activities. (Reposted from openthejoy.com)

As silly or serious as you want. I like that these activities can be done at face value and just be a fun little project to do that is gratitude themed or it can be used as a tool to spark a conversation about what gratitude is and why it is important and develop lifelong habits to practice it. The gratitude cards are amazing. The gratitude cards are such a great concept. It's hard to tell from the product listing but basically it is a keyring that has 50 or so cards on it and each card has a gratitude prompt. The ring makes it really easy to carry around so I use it on the rides home from school to keep things interesting. It's started some really great conversations and I think we've all become more grateful because of them. (Reposted from openthejoy.com)

Learning to share! My grandson is going through a "mine" phase and so his parents are really trying to teach him about sharing. I sent them over this and they seemed to love it! They said it helped having set "lesson plans" to teach him about being grateful and showing it =) (Reposted from openthejoy.com)
